A new full-service visitor center in the same location opened to the public in 2008. The road closes with significant snowfall, but there is access from the north at manzanita lake and in the south at the ranger station / entrance. Manzanita lake in the north is at 5900 ft so it is relatively low and provides a fairly flat access to Lassen peak either accross the jumbles or up manzanita creek trail. arcadi kolchak
