WebNov 12, 2024 · When we first looked at this head, it was easy to see how Ford completely separates the two intake ports. No sport compact head does this so far out into the port. The port is very long and small. Seeing other heads on the market, most are knocked back the center of the 2 ports and made it appear to be a larger runner. It looks awesome! WebOnly major change is the Holley Mid-Mount kit on the front and some generic block-hugger headers. Otherwise running stock 706 heads and stock truck intake with DBW throttle body. I have a spare LS short-block that is also an LM7 ( I think) with 862 heads and no intake on it.

If you want to make power with a 5.3, you need compression or boost. The 799/243 head is great for flow, but given that your engine originally came with 706 heads, it likely has dished pistons. The 799/243 will kill what little compression you have now unless you mill them.
