Web26 Sep 2024 · I emptied one of the larger cans of PB blaster onto that and the lower bolt over the span of the last week. Unfortunately, still made it about three turns before the head snapped off. The lower bolt came out just fine though! I started to drill it out, and had success until the first opening under the control arm closest to the front of the car. It is the inner hole, closer to the transmission. I'm starting to think that the bolt is fine but whatever it threads into broke off the chassis.

Web9 Aug 2001 · The thing is the early S3 and MK1 TT's had the same control arms on the upper and lower fixing points up to chassis 8N-Y-060, then the lower arm (the one that has snapped on all the vehicles reported to me) was changed. If you have a MK2 ESP TT then you have the revised lower control arm.
